《第三波》讲述了欧洲被一种僵尸病毒肆虐了六年之后，终于找到了可以让僵尸变回正常人的“解药”。但是康复的这些人并不被社会所接受，家人亲属排斥他们，政府也严格管控他们。在愤怒、内疚、恐惧的百感交集下，一些“康复了的僵尸”开始进行恐怖活动，社会又一次陷入了动荡。药治得了病，却治不了人心。。1967年，19岁的Susanna Kaysen由于近日产生幻觉向医生求助，更严重的是她还和父母一位好朋友的丈夫有染。最后Susanna被诊断为患有“边缘人格错乱”，建议其住院修养一段时间。在Claymoore精神病院，Susanna结识了一群新朋友：患有说谎癖的Georgina，对火深怀恐惧的Polly，不能当着他人面进食的Daisy，最特别的是反社会人格的Lisa，她令医院管理人员头痛不已，对这群女孩影响甚大。在这样的环境下，Susanna是会康复呢，还是会象她的朋友一样变得更乖戾。。A young woman running a wildlife sanctuary in the Australian outback is in for trouble when she is confronted by three kangaroo hunters.
