奉天省东路道的赵家村，村中富绅孙兴文因处置鼠患得罪灰仙，患上怪病，恐命不久矣。其弟孙耀生在村长的指引下，前往参把头老白搭家中，请其为兄长进山寻一棵吊命的老山参。众人在寻参途中，听来福提及冯春和遭遇“黄仙劫亲”的怪事传闻，且试图用傀儡术蒙骗前来接亲的黄鼠狼队伍。老九也讲述了此前和郎中李大壮在山上遇到了妖怪，还遭遇了两次鬼打墙，在逃跑途中，少妇显出狐妖原型大开杀戒，李大壮命丧狐口，老九侥幸逃生。众人进入五仙庙后，事态却吊诡了起来，庙中竟林立着当年暴毙工人的牌位，冯春和、李大壮和奄奄一息的孙兴文竟都跪坐在神像前，来福和老白搭也被人迷昏，五仙庙仿佛隐藏着一个巨大的，不可告人的秘密……。Deep in the Northern California woods, in the heart of the notorious Emerald Triangle, lies a remote cabin.
