Black Earth Rising is a long form thriller which, through the prism of a black Anglo-American family, examines the West’s relationship with contemporary Africa by exploring issues of justice, guilt, and self-determination.。麦卡和乔是两个居住在旧金山的二十出头的非洲裔美国男女，一天早上，他们发现自己在同一张床上醒来，却怎么也想不起昨晚他们是怎么碰到的。他们互相介绍后，一起吃了顿早餐并一起乘坐出租车，然后互相告别。但乔将钱包落在了出租车里，麦卡只好去乔的家把钱包还给她，两人也由此产生了感情。。
